The Flame That Forms Us [Bold Faith Is Sacrificial] Devotions Day 4

Living for Something Greater

Devotional
Following Jesus means acknowledging a fundamental truth: our lives are no longer our own. We've been bought with a price and now belong to Someone greater. This isn't a burden - it's a privilege. When we truly grasp that we belong to Christ, our decisions, dreams, and desires naturally align with His. We no longer live merely for our own happiness or success, but for a greater purpose. This shift in persepective leads to true freedom as we discover that living for Christ is infinitely more fulfilling than living for ourselves.

Bible Verse
For we don’t live for ourselves or die for ourselves. If we live, it’s to honor the Lord. And if we die, it’s to honor the Lord. So whether we live or die, we belong to the Lord.
- Romans 14:7-8

Either way, Christ’s love controls us. Since we believe that Christ died for all, we also believe that we have all died to our old life. He died for everyone so that those who receive his new life will no longer live for themselves. Instead, they will live for Christ, who died and was raised for them. - 2 Corinthians 5:14-15

Reflection Question
In what ways does knowing you belong to Christ change how you approach your daily decisions and long-term plans?

Quote
Followers of Christ acknowledge Jesus as their Master and Lord and submit to His rule in their lives. They recognize that they belong to the Lord and no longer simply live for themselves.

Prayer
Jesus, thank You for purchasing me with Your blood. Help me live today as someone who belongs completely to You. Guide my choices and shape my desires. Amen.
