Bold Faith [Blind Faith] Devotions Day 5

Living by Faith, Not by Sight

Devotional
Bartimaeus began his journey with Jesus while physically blind, yet he saw with the eyes of faith what many with perfect vision missed—that Jesus was worth pursuing at all costs. His story perfectly illustrates Paul's words: "For we live by believing and not by seeing." Living by faith means trusting God's character and promises even when our circumstances seem to contradict them. It means continuing to pray, worship, and obey when the visible evidence suggests our efforts are futile. It means pursuing Jesus persistently even when the crowd tells us to be quiet. When we're under pressure, our true foundation is revealed. Do we run to temporary comforts that ease our stress but don't address our deeper needs? Or do we press into Jesus through prayer and faith, believing He is working even when we can't see it? The beautiful paradox of faith is that often our spiritual eyes open widest when our circumstances are darkest. Like Bartimaeus, we discover Jesus most profoundly when we acknowledge our blindness and call out to Him in desperation. Remember that Jesus is calling you to follow Him down the road... not just to receive His blessings, but to walk in His footsteps. He is the treasure worth pursuing above all else, the one who stops for your cry and meets your deepest needs.

Bible Verse
For we live by believing and not by seeing. - 2 Corinthians 5:7

Reflection Question
In what area of your life do you need to stop demanding to see before you believe, and instead trust God's character and promises despite what your circumstances suggest?

Quote
Pursue him like He is the most valuable treasure ever worth having because that is exactly what He is.

Prayer
Lord Jesus, help me to live by faith and not by sight. When I can't see what You're doing, help me to trust who You are. Give me persistence to pursue You as my greatest treasure, even when the path is difficult. Thank You that You always hear my cry and that You're always worth following. Amen.
