The Flame That Forms Us [Purifying] Devotions Day 4

Reflecting God's Character

Devotional
The goal of the refinement process is to reflect God's character in our lives. Just as a gold refiner knows the gold is pure when they can see their reflection in it, God continues His work in us until His character is perfectly reflected in our lives. This requires our active participation—surrendering daily, crucifying our flesh, and allowing the Holy Spirit to lead us. God's promise to us is purity, and He will accomplish His plan in our hearts if we allow Him access. We must put to death the deeds of our sin nature, but this can only be done by the power of the Holy Spirit. We cannot do it in our own strength. "Jesus gave his life to purify. His death was not in vain. And if you will allow him access, God will accomplish his plan for purity in your heart. He cannot fail."

Bible Verse
For the grace of God has been revealed, bringing salvation to all people. And we are instructed to turn from godless living and sinful pleasures. We should live in this evil world with wisdom, righteousness, and devotion to God, while we look forward with hope to that wonderful day when the glory of our great God and Savior, Jesus Christ, will be revealed. He gave his life to free us from every kind of sin, to cleanse us, and to make us his very own people, totally committed to doing good deeds. - Titus 2:11-14

Reflection Question
How can you actively participate in reflecting God's character in your daily life?

Quote
Refinement doesn't stop until we reflect God's character in our lives, free from sin and walking in purity.

Prayer
Lord, help me to reflect Your character in my life. Give me the strength to surrender daily, crucify my flesh, and allow the Holy Spirit to lead me. Amen.
