The Flame That Forms Us [Purifying] Devotions Day 5

Becoming a Vessel of Honor

Devotional
The end result of the refinement process is becoming a vessel of honor, set apart for God's special use. Just as gold is far more valuable than wood or clay, we are called to be honorable and pure instruments for God's good works. This requires us to put to death the deeds of our sin nature and allow the Holy Spirit to lead us. Nothing can separate us from God's love during this process. Despite the challenges and trials, we have overwhelming victory through Christ. God's promise to us is purity, and He will accomplish His plan in our hearts if we allow Him access.

Bible Verse
But God’s truth stands firm like a foundation stone with this inscription: “The Lord knows those who are his,”and “All who belong to the Lord must turn away from evil.” In a wealthy home some utensils are made of gold and silver, and some are made of wood and clay. The expensive utensils are used for special occasions, and the cheap ones are for everyday use. If you keep yourself pure, you will be a special utensil for honorable use. Your life will be clean, and you will be ready for the Master to use you for every good work. - 2 Timothy 2:19-21

Reflection Question
In what ways can you become a vessel of honor for God's special use?

Quote
The goal is to look more and more like Jesus... to reflect Him as you pursue His presence in your daily life.

Prayer
Lord, help me to become a vessel of honor, set apart for Your special use. Give me the strength to put to death the deeds of my sin nature and allow the Holy Spirit to lead me. Amen.
