I Am [The Gate For The Sheep] Devotions Day 4
The Transforming Call
Devotional
There's something profoundly personal about being called by name. It signifies recognition, relationship, and purpose. Jesus, our Shepherd, doesn't just call to the flock collectively—He calls each of us by name. When Jesus encounters the man born blind after his healing and subsequent rejection by the religious leaders, He seeks him out personally. Jesus reveals Himself to this man, inviting him into relationship. This same personal call extends to each of us today. The Shepherd's call is always transformative. When we respond to His voice, everything changes. Those who were once lost find direction. Those who were once blind receive spiritual sight. Those who were once trapped in destructive patterns find freedom. Many of us can look back on our lives and identify that pivotal moment when we decided to listen to the Shepherd's voice—and everything changed. For some, it was a dramatic turnaround; for others, a quiet awakening. But for all who respond to His call, there is transformation. Today, listen for Jesus calling your name. He's not calling you to be Him—that's impossible. He's calling you to be Christ-like, to follow His example, to walk in His ways. And in that following, you'll find your life transformed day by day into something beautiful and purposeful.
Bible Verse
When Jesus heard what had happened, he found the man and asked, “Do you believe in the Son of Man?” The man answered, “Who is he, sir? I want to believe in him.” “You have seen him,” Jesus said, “and he is speaking to you!” “Yes, Lord, I believe!” the man said. And he worshiped Jesus. - John 9:35-38
Reflection Question
Can you identify a specific moment when you decided to listen to the Shepherd's voice, and how did that decision transformed your life?
Quote
"We decided to listen to the shepherd's voice, and that's when everything changed."
Prayer
Jesus, thank You for calling me by name. Help me to respond to Your voice with faith and obedience. Continue transforming me to become more like You each day. I believe in You and worship You as my Lord and Shepherd. Amen.
