More Than Enough [God's Provision] Devotions Day 3

Learning to Be Still and Wait

Devotional
In our fast-paced world, being still and waiting patiently feels almost impossible. We want answers now, solutions immediately, and progress that we can measure. But God's timeline rarely matches our urgency, and His methods often require us to slow down and trust His process. Gideon had to learn this lesson in a profound way. After being called to deliver Israel, he couldn't just rush into battle. There were tests, preparations, and a complete restructuring of his approach. God reduced his army from 32,000 to 300... not exactly the direction most military strategists would recommend. But God was teaching Gideon (and us) that victory comes through dependence on Him, not through human strength or numbers. Waiting isn't passive; it's an active choice to trust God's wisdom over our impatience. When we're still before Him, we create space to hear His voice, to align our hearts with His will, and to receive the peace that comes from knowing He's in control. In the stillness, our desires begin to change from wanting our way to wanting His way. The commands to be still and wait aren't punishments... they're invitations to experience God's presence more deeply. In the waiting, we discover that being with Him is better than having all our questions answered immediately.

Bible Verse
Be still in the presence of the Lord, and wait patiently for him to act. Don’t worry about evil people who prosper or fret about their wicked schemes.- Psalm 37:7

Reflection Question
What situation in your life is God asking you to be still and wait in, and how can you use this time to draw closer to Him?

Prayer
Lord, teach me to be still in Your presence and to wait patiently for Your timing. Help me to trust that You're working even when I can't see it. In the waiting, draw me closer to Your heart and align my desires with Yours. Amen.
