God Makes All Things New [A New Season] Devotions Day 4
Holy Ground in the Wilderness
Devotional
If you're walking through a difficult season right now, you might be wondering why God has allowed you to enter this wilderness. The harsh circumstances, the uncertainty, the discomfort... none of it feels particularly holy or purposeful. But what if your hardest season has a holy purpose? God often leads us into unfamiliar and uncomfortable places, not to abandon us, but to meet us in ways that only the wilderness can provide. Just as the Holy Spirit led Jesus into the wilderness after His baptism, God uses these harsh environments as His classroom for transformation. The Hebrew word for desert shares its root with the word meaning "to speak." The wilderness isn't silent, it's actually where God speaks clearly. When all the noise and distractions of comfortable life are stripped away, we can finally hear His voice with stunning clarity. Maybe you're in a season of loss, dealing with a shattered dream, navigating a stagnating relationship, or facing a future that looks barren. When life feels harsh and uncomfortable, know that you're not wandering aimlessly. You are standing on holy ground. The question isn't when you'll get out of this wilderness season... the real question is what you'll get out of it. Sometimes the most sacred encounters with God happen in the most desolate places. Your wilderness might actually be God's preparation ground for something beautiful He has planned ahead. God is always at work preparing us for what lies ahead, even when we struggle to see it. He's using this season to speak to you, to shape you, and to prepare you for the new things He wants to do in your life.
Bible Verse
And I will give you a new heart, and I will put a new spirit in you. I will take out your stony, stubborn heart and give you a tender, responsive heart. And I will put my Spirit in you so that you will follow my decrees and be careful to obey my regulations. - Ezekiel 36:26-27
Reflection Question
What is God trying to speak to you in your current wilderness season, and how might this difficult time be preparing you for something new He has planned?
Quote
Maybe you're In a wilderness season right now, a season of loss, a shattered dream, a stagnating relationship, a future that looks barren when life feels harsh and uncomfortable, know that you're not wandering aimlessly. You are standing on holy ground.
Prayer
Lord, help me see my wilderness season as holy ground where You want to meet me. Open my ears to hear what You're speaking in this place of difficulty. Give me faith to trust that You're preparing me for something beautiful, even when I can't see it yet. Transform my heart in this season. Amen.
