Deeper Still [Find God] Devotions Day 4
Meeting You Where You Are
Devotional
Over the past three days, we've seen that God moves first, meets us in ordinary moments, and pursues us relentlessly. Today, we discover where this divine encounter takes place: exactly where you are right now. God doesn't demand that we clean up our lives before He approaches us. He doesn't require us to reach a certain spiritual level or overcome our struggles first. Instead, He meets us in our current state, offering grace that we don't have to earn. Think about it this way: imagine if a friend only visited your home after you had perfectly cleaned and organized everything. That wouldn't feel like genuine friendship, would it? Real friends come over even when the dishes are in the sink and the laundry is piled up. They care more about being with you than about the state of your house. God operates the same way, but even more so. He doesn't show up and start knocking on the door only after you've cleaned the house. The problem is, so many of us don't want to open the door because the house isn't clean. We think we need to fix ourselves first, but here's the truth: we can't clean the house on our own. We need His help to do it. God isn't asking to enter your life so He can shame you or point out everything that's wrong. He's asking to come in so He can help you clean up the mess, heal your wounds, and make you whole. His presence isn't about judgment... it's about transformation through love. When we understand that God meets us where we are, it removes the pressure to pretend we have it all together. We can be honest about our struggles, our doubts, and our failures, knowing that these are the very places where God wants to work.
Bible Verse
But God showed his great love for us by sending Christ to die for us while we were still sinners. - Romans 5:8
Reflection Question
What 'messy areas' of your life have you been hesitant to let God into, and what would it look like to invite Him into those spaces today?
Quote
He doesn't demand that we first become perfect before he approaches us. He meets us in our current state condition, offering grace that does not require us to earn it.
Prayer
Father, thank You for meeting me exactly where I am. Help me stop trying to clean up my life before coming to You. Give me the courage to open the door and let You help me with the mess. Amen.
