Deeper Still [Find God] Devotions Day 5
Opening the Door
Devotional
This week we've journeyed through beautiful truths: God moves toward us first, meets us in ordinary moments, pursues us relentlessly, and encounters us exactly where we are. Today, we discover our part in this divine relationship... opening the door. God stands at the door of your heart, knocking and waiting. He's not forcing His way in. He's patiently waiting for you to recognize His presence and invite Him in. This requires vulnerability on our part... the willingness to let someone see us as we truly are. Vulnerability leads to authentic relationship. Think about the person you're in the deepest relationship with in this world. It's likely the person you're most vulnerable with, the one who knows your struggles, fears, and dreams. That openness creates intimacy and trust. The same is true with God. When we open the door of our hearts... with all our mess, confusion, and imperfection... we create space for genuine relationship. We stop performing and start being real. We stop hiding and start healing. Prayer becomes our way of recognizing that God has already been pursuing us and is standing at the door, waiting. It's not a request for God to start moving; it's an invitation for us to acknowledge that He's already there. God's love meets you in the messiness of life. Whether you're grieving, angry, or doubting, it's okay. Allow Him to enter those spaces to help you clean them up. Trust that His embrace is safe and transformative. When we finally open that door, heaven rejoices. The response isn't judgment or shame... it's joyful celebration. God has been waiting for this moment, and He's ready to help you become whole.
Bible Verse
Look! I stand at the door and knock. If you hear my voice and open the door, I will come in, and we will share a meal together as friends. - Revelation 3:20
Reflection Question
What would it look like for you to be more vulnerable with God this week, and what door of your heart is He asking you to open?
Quote
Vulnerability leads to authentic relationship. Trust that God's embrace is safe and transformative.
Prayer
Lord, I hear You knocking at the door of my heart. Give me the courage to open it fully, trusting that You come not to condemn but to heal and restore. Help me be vulnerable and authentic in our relationship. Amen.
