Deeper Still [See God] Devotions Day 2
God's Active Presence Within
Devotional
One of the most remarkable truths of Christianity is that God doesn't just work around us... He works within us. Through His Holy Spirit, the Creator of the universe has chosen to make His dwelling place in our hearts. This isn't a passive arrangement where God simply occupies space; He actively guides, supports, and transforms us from the inside out. Unlike the Old Testament where God's presence was confined to the temple and accessible only to the high priest once a year, we now have constant, intimate access to Him. The Holy Spirit serves as our advocate, comforter, and counselor, never leaving us to face life's challenges alone. This internal transformation might be even more spectacular than the external miracles we often seek. When God works within us, He changes our desires, our perspectives, and our capacity to love others. He empowers us to live in ways that reflect His character, not through our own strength, but through His power working in us.
Bible Verse
For God is working in you, giving you the desire and the power to do what pleases him. - Philippians 2:13
Reflection Question
How have you experienced God's active presence working within you, rather than just around you?
Quote
The miraculous movement of God in us might be even more spectacular than his movement around us.
Prayer
Thank You, God, for choosing to dwell within me through Your Holy Spirit. Help me recognize and respond to Your active work in my heart and life.
