Deeper Still [God's Presence] Devotions Day 4

Following Jesus' Example

Devotional
If anyone had a good excuse to skip quiet time with God, it would have been Jesus. His days were packed with ministering to crowds and healing people. People constantly demanded His attention, and the needs around Him were overwhelming. Yet, despite His busy schedule and divine nature, Jesus consistently made time to connect with the Father. The Gospel of Mark tells us that Jesus rose very early in the morning, before daybreak , to find a solitary place and pray. This wasn't a one-time occurrence but a regular practice. Even though Jesus was God in human form, He recognized the vital importance of maintaining His connection with the Father through prayer and solitude. This should humble and challenge us. If Jesus, with all His divine wisdom and power, felt the need to prioritize time with God, how much more do we need this connection? We are not self-sufficient. We cannot navigate life's challenges, make wise decisions, or love others well without staying connected to our Source. Jesus' example shows us that spending time with God isn't a luxury for when life slows down... it's a necessity for every day, especially the busy ones. It's not about finding time; it's about making time. It's not about waiting for the perfect moment; it's about creating sacred moments in the midst of ordinary days. When we consistently connect with God in prayer, we stay connected to God's heart, aligned with His purposes, and empowered by His presence.

Bible Verse
Before daybreak the next morning, Jesus got up and went out to an isolated place to pray. - Mark 1:35

Reflection Question
If Jesus, in His divine nature, prioritized daily time with the Father, what does this reveal about your own need for consistent time with God?

Prayer
Lord Jesus, thank You for modeling what it means to prioritize time with the Father. Help me follow Your example by making time with God a non-negotiable part of my daily routine, especially when life gets busy. Amen
