Deeper Still [See God] Devotions Day 4
Honest Communication with God
Devotional
The strongest relationships are built on honest communication, and our relationship with God is no different. Many of us feel like we need to clean up our thoughts and emotions before approaching God, but He already knows exactly how we feel. We can't shock Him or catch Him off guard with our struggles, fears, or doubts. God invites us to come to Him with complete transparency. He wants to hear about our frustrations, our questions, and even our anger. This isn't because He needs the information... it's because honest communication deepens our relationship with Him and opens our hearts to His transforming work. When we try to hide our true selves from God, we miss out on the intimacy He desires with us. But when we lay bare our honest selves before Him, we create space for His Spirit to work in the deepest parts of our hearts. This vulnerability isn't weakness... it's the pathway to authentic spiritual growth and deeper connection with our Creator.
Bible Verse
And I will ask the Father, and he will give you another Advocate, who will never leave you. He is the Holy Spirit, who leads into all truth. The world cannot receive him, because it isn’t looking for him and doesn’t recognize him. But you know him, because he lives with you now and later will be in you. - John 14:16-17
Reflection Question
What honest conversation have you been avoiding with God that might deepen your relationship with Him?
Quote
The depth of any relationship hinges on honest communication. In our walk with God, this means laying bare our honest selves before Him.
Prayer
God, help me come to You with complete honesty, knowing that You already know my heart and love me unconditionally. Teach me to trust You with my deepest thoughts and feelings.
