God Makes All Things New [A New Identity] Devotions Day 5

Becoming Like Jesus

Devotional
The ultimate goal of your transformation isn't just to be a better person... it's to become like Jesus. He is the perfect image of what humanity is supposed to be, the standard we're being transformed into. This might seem overwhelming, but remember: you're not trying to achieve this through your own effort. God Himself is working in you to make you more like His Son. Every challenge you face, every temptation you overcome, every act of love you choose... these are all opportunities for Christ's character to be formed in you. The giants in your life... whether they're addiction, fear, anger, or despair... are no match for Jesus. All of these giants can and will fall when you stop trying to face them alone and start relying on Christ's strength within you. Here's the beautiful truth: you don't have to handle your problems on your own anymore. If you're trying to fight your battles in your own strength, you'll keep failing. But when you pursue Jesus, when you lean into His power and presence, you'll find victory. The goal isn't perfection overnight, but progress toward Christlikeness. Every day, may others see less of your old self and more of Jesus shining through you.

Bible Verse
So all of us who have had that veil removed can see and reflect the glory of the Lord. And the Lord—who is the Spirit—makes us more and more like him as we are changed into his glorious image. - 2 Corinthians 3:18

Reflection Question
In what specific area of your life do you most need to stop trying to handle things on your own and instead pursue Jesus for His strength and transformation?

Quote
Because none of these giants are a match for Jesus. All of these giants can and will fall.

Prayer
Lord Jesus, I want to become more like You. Help me to stop trying to face my challenges alone and instead rely on Your strength. Transform me daily into Your image, and may others see less of me and more of You. I surrender my giants to You, knowing that none of them are a match for You. Amen.
