More Than Enough [God's Provision] Devotions Day 5
El Shaddai: More Than Enough
Devotional
El Shaddai—God Almighty, the all-sufficient one. This name for God captures something profound about His character: He is not limited by what seems impossible to us. He doesn't need perfect conditions, unlimited resources, or ideal timing. He only needs our surrender. Gideon learned this truth in the most dramatic way possible. With just 300 men armed with nothing more than horns, jars, and torches, God delivered a victory that defied all logic. The enemy was defeated without a single sword being drawn. What looked like certain defeat became overwhelming victory because El Shaddai was fighting the battle. When we feel like we don't have enough... enough money, enough time, enough talent, enough strength... we can remember that God specializes in making the inadequate more than adequate. He fed 5,000 people with a boy's lunch. He used a shepherd's staff to part the Red Sea. He uses ordinary people to accomplish extraordinary things. The question isn't whether you have enough resources, abilities, or qualifications. The question is whether you're willing to surrender what you do have to El Shaddai, trusting that He will make it more than enough. In His hands, your little becomes much, your weakness becomes strength, and your surrender becomes victory.
Bible Verse
When Abram was ninety-nine years old, the Lord appeared to him and said, “I am El-Shaddai—‘God Almighty.’ Serve me faithfully and live a blameless life. - Genesis 17:1
By his divine power, God has given us everything we need for living a godly life. We have received all of this by coming to know him, the one who called us to himself by means of his marvelous glory and excellence. - 2 Peter 1:3
Reflection Question
What area of your life feels insufficient right now, and how can you surrender it to El Shaddai, trusting Him to make it more than enough?
Quote
El Shaddai is the God who does not concern himself with whether or not something is impossible. He is neither beholden to our time frames, nor does he have to wait for perfect conditions. He only needs your surrender.
Prayer
El Shaddai, You are more than enough for every situation I face. Help me to stop focusing on what I lack and start trusting in Your abundant provision. Take my small offerings and multiply them for Your glory. I surrender my inadequacies to Your sufficiency. Amen.
