The Flame That Forms Us [Purifying] Devotions Day 1

Embracing the Refinement Process

Devotional
The journey of refinement is a vital part of our spiritual growth. Just as gold is purified through fire, we too are refined through trials and challenges. These moments of heat may not feel good, but they are essential for revealing and removing impurities in our hearts. God uses these trials to make us righteous, holy, and pure, reflecting His character in our lives. The Bible tells us that our faith, much like gold, is tested by fire. This process is not meant to harm us but to bring out the best in us. It requires our active participation—surrendering daily and allowing the Holy Spirit to lead us. Remember, God is with us every step of the way, and His love never fails. "Even though it doesn't feel good in the moment, being in those moments of heat never does. Even though it doesn't feel good in the moment. I still thank you for times of refinement because I know that you are working out something good in our lives."

Bible Verse
So be truly glad. There is wonderful joy ahead, even though you must endure many trials for a little while. These trials will show that your faith is genuine. It is being tested as fire tests and purifies gold—though your faith is far more precious than mere gold. So when your faith remains strong through many trials, it will bring you much praise and glory and honor on the day when Jesus Christ is revealed to the whole world. - 1 Peter 1:6-7

Reflection Question
How can you embrace the refinement process in your current trials and challenges?

Quote
The refinement process is a good thing. We've been looking at how the Bible talks about how we are going to go through these seasons of refinement and how God uses the refining process to make us righteous and holy and pure.

Prayer
Lord, help me to embrace the refinement process, even when it is uncomfortable. Give me the strength to surrender daily and trust that You are working out something good in my life. Amen.
