God Makes All Things New [A New Identity] Devotions Day 1

Hello, My Name Is New

Devotional
Have you ever felt stuck in a cycle of making the same mistakes over and over? Maybe you've tried to change, promised yourself you'd do better, only to find yourself right back where you started. There's something profoundly liberating about understanding that God's plan for you isn't just improvement... it's complete transformation. When you come to Christ, you don't just get a spiritual makeover; you become an entirely new person. Your old identity... the one marked by shame, regret, and failure... is gone. In its place stands someone completely new: forgiven, beloved, and free. This isn't about trying harder or being a better version of yourself. This is about receiving a brand new identity that changes everything. The person you were before Christ? That person no longer exists. You are not defined by your worst moments or biggest mistakes. You are defined by your relationship with the One who made you new. Today, instead of introducing yourself by your failures, remember your true name: child of God, forgiven, beloved.

Bible Verse
This means that anyone who belongs to Christ has become a new person. The old life is gone; a new life has begun! - 2 Corinthians 5:17

Reflection Question
What old labels or identities from your past do you need to stop claiming as your own, and how might embracing your new identity in Christ change the way you see yourself today?

Quote
The beauty of the gospel is not that we are just merely improved versions of our old self. The beauty of the gospel is that we are now new creations.

Prayer
Lord, help me to truly understand that I am not just an improved version of my old self, but a completely new creation in You. Help me to stop defining myself by my past and start living in the freedom of who You say I am. Amen.
