Deeper Still [Find God] Devotions Day 3
The Relentless Pursuit
Devotional
Building on the truth that God moves first and meets us in ordinary moments, today we discover something even more amazing: God's love is relentless in its pursuit of us. The parable of the lost sheep reveals the heart of God in stunning clarity. When one sheep goes missing, the shepherd doesn't shrug his shoulders and focus on the ninety-nine that remained. He doesn't wait for the lost sheep to find its way back. Instead, he actively searches, knowing the terrain, understanding the dangers, and refusing to give up until he finds what was lost. This is how God pursues you. No matter how far you've wandered, how many wrong turns you've taken, or how lost you feel, God's love doesn't give up. He knows exactly where you are and what led you there. He understands the circumstances, the pain, the confusion, or the choices that brought you to this place. Perhaps you've been running from God, thinking you've gone too far or done too much. Maybe you feel like you've disappointed Him one too many times. The beautiful truth is that God's pursuit of you isn't based on your performance... it's based on His love. He doesn't chase after you to condemn you but to restore you. The overarching story of the entire Bible is God pursuing humanity. From the garden of Eden to the cross, from the empty tomb to this very moment, God has been actively seeking relationship with us. He's not sitting back waiting for you to get your act together... He's moving toward you right now. This relentless love should give us incredible hope and security. You are not forgotten, overlooked, or beyond reach. You are actively pursued by the God of the universe.
Bible Verse
“If a man has a hundred sheep and one of them gets lost, what will he do? Won’t he leave the ninety-nine others in the wilderness and go to search for the one that is lost until he finds it? And when he has found it, he will joyfully carry it home on his shoulders. When he arrives, he will call together his friends and neighbors, saying, ‘Rejoice with me because I have found my lost sheep.’ In the same way, there is more joy in heaven over one lost sinner who repents and returns to God than over ninety-nine others who are righteous and haven’t strayed away! - Luke 15:4-7
Reflection Question
In what ways have you experienced God's relentless pursuit in your own life, even during times when you felt distant from Him?
Quote
No matter where you are or how lost you may feel, God's love is relentless.
Prayer
Good Shepherd, thank You for never giving up on me. When I feel lost or far from You, remind me that You are actively seeking me. Help me trust in Your relentless love and respond to Your pursuit. Amen.
