Kingdom Logic [What Goes Down Must Come Up] Devotions Day 1

The Upside-Down Kingdom

Devotional
We live in a world that constantly tells us to climb higher, reach further, and promote ourselves. Social media feeds are filled with highlight reels, and success is measured by how many people look up to us. Yet Jesus presents a completely different way of living that challenges everything our culture teaches us about greatness. In God's kingdom, the rules are flipped upside down. The way up is actually down. True greatness isn't found in accumulating power or demanding recognition, but in something our world considers weakness: serving others. This isn't just a nice idea... it's the fundamental operating principle of God's kingdom. This paradox feels uncomfortable because it goes against the natural instincts of our sin nature. We want to be seen, valued, and respected. But Jesus invites us into a different kind of life, one where we find our identity not in what we achieve, but in how we love and serve. When we embrace this upside-down way of living, we discover something remarkable: the very thing we were chasing through self-promotion - true significance and lasting impact... comes naturally through humble service.

Bible Verse
'But those who exalt themselves will be humbled, and those who humble themselves will be exalted.' - Matthew 23:12

Reflection Question
What areas of your life are you trying to climb higher in, and how might God be calling you to embrace a different approach?

Quote
The way up is down. Less is actually more. When you're weak, that's when you're strong. If you want to really live, you have to die.

Prayer
God, help me to see greatness through Your eyes rather than the world's standards. Give me the courage to embrace Your upside-down kingdom where serving others leads to true fulfillment.
