Name Above All Names [Resurrection Sunday] Devotions Day 3

The Power of His Word

Devotional
"Just as He said He would." These five words carry incredible weight. Jesus didn't rise from the dead because people hoped hard enough or because circumstances aligned perfectly. He rose because He said He would, and His word carries absolute authority... even over death itself. In a world where promises are often broken and words feel cheap, Jesus' word stands unshakeable. When He speaks, creation responds. When He commands, even death must obey. This isn't just about His resurrection; it's about every promise He's made to you. Think about the promises Jesus has given us: He will never leave us nor forsake us. He works all things together for good for those who love Him. He has prepared a place for us. These aren't wishful thinking or empty religious platitudes... they're backed by the same authority that conquered the grave. When you're struggling to believe God's promises in your life, remember the empty tomb. The same Jesus who said He would rise from the dead and did exactly that is the same Jesus making promises to you today. His track record is perfect, and His word has never failed.

Bible Verse
As Jesus was going up to Jerusalem, he took the twelve disciples aside privately and told them what was going to happen to him. “Listen,” he said, “we’re going up to Jerusalem, where the Son of Man will be betrayed to the leading priests and the teachers of religious law. They will sentence him to die. Then they will hand him over to the Romans to be mocked, flogged with a whip, and crucified. But on the third day he will be raised from the dead.” - Matthew 20:17-19

Reflection Question
Which of God's promises do you find hardest to believe right now, and how does Jesus' perfect track record encourage you to trust Him?

Quote
Jesus didn't rise because his disciples believed hard enough. He didn't rise because circumstances aligned just perfectly. Jesus rose from the dead because he said he would. His word is so powerful, so authoritative, that death itself must obey.

Prayer
Jesus, thank You that Your word is completely trustworthy. Help me to rest in Your promises, knowing that You always do what You say You will do.
