Deeper Still [God's Presence] Devotions Day 2

The Foundation of Every Relationship

Devotional
Imagine trying to maintain a friendship with someone you never spend time with. You might know facts about them, send occasional texts, or even do favors for them, but without quality time together, the relationship remains shallow and distant. The same principle applies to our relationship with God. Many of us fall into the trap of knowing about God without truly knowing Him. We might attend church, read about Him, or even serve in His name, but if we're not spending personal time with Him, we're missing the heart of relationship. It's like being married to someone you never talk to or being friends with someone you never see. God doesn't want to be just another item on your to-do list or a distant figure you acknowledge from afar. He desires intimate fellowship with you. He wants to hear about your day, your struggles, your dreams, and your fears. He wants to share His heart with you, guide your decisions, and comfort you in difficult times. This kind of relationship can't be built through sporadic encounters or rushed prayers. It requires the same ingredient that every meaningful relationship needs: time. Consistent, unhurried, focused time where you're fully present with Him. The beautiful truth is that God is always available. He's never too busy, never distracted, and never unavailable. He's waiting for you to slow down, put aside the distractions, and simply be with Him.

Bible Verse
You will show me the way of life, granting me the joy of your presence and the pleasures of living with you forever. - Psalm 16:11

Reflection Question
How would you describe your current relationship with God; do you know about Him or do you truly know Him through time spent together?

Quote
One of the most basic fundamentals of a relationship with anyone is to spend time with them.

Prayer
Father, I want to know You, not just know about You. Help me move beyond surface-level interactions to deep, meaningful fellowship with You. Teach me to value relationship over religious activity. Amen.
