God Makes All Things New [A New Home] Devotions Day 5
Heaven Starts Now
Devotional
While we eagerly await our future home in heaven, God doesn't want us to just sit around waiting. He's inviting us to bring a taste of heaven to earth right now. The renewal and transformation He promises for the future can begin in our lives today. God can mend broken relationships that seem beyond repair. He can heal the shame and guilt that have haunted us for years. He can transform our hearts and give us new identities as His beloved children. The same power that will one day make all things new is available to us right now. This means we don't have to wait until heaven to experience God's goodness. We can seek forgiveness and offer reconciliation today. We can let go of past mistakes and embrace our new identity in Christ. We can love like Jesus loves and serve like He serves. As we live this way, we become living previews of the kingdom of heaven. People around us get to see what it looks like when God's will is done on earth as it is in heaven. Our transformed lives become invitations for others to taste and see that the Lord is good. Jesus is still extending the cup to anyone who will receive it, asking the same question He asked His disciples: "Will you drink? Will you enter into this covenant with me?" The invitation to new life... both now and forever... is still open.
Bible Verse
Let not your hearts be troubled. Believe in God; believe also in me. In my Father's house are many rooms. If it were not so, would I have told you that I go to prepare a place for you? And if I go and prepare a place for you, I will come again and will take you to myself, that where I am you may be also. - John 14:1-3
May your Kingdom come soon. May your will be done on earth, as it is in heaven. - Matthew 6:10
Reflection Question
How can you be someone who shows the world around you a glimpse of what it's like for God's will to be done on earth as it is in heaven?
Quote
God is inviting you, while you wait and watch for Jesus to come back, for you to also be someone who would show the world around you a glimpse of what it's like for God's will to be done here on earth, just as it's being done in heaven.
Prayer
Lord, thank You that Your kingdom can begin in my life today. Use me to bring healing, hope, and love to the world around me. Help me to live as a preview of the heaven You're preparing for all who believe. Amen.
