Step By Step [Obey God, Even If You Don't Know Where He's Leading] Devotions Day 1

Taking the First Step

Devotional
Faith begins with a single step. When God called Abraham at 75 years old, He didn't provide a detailed roadmap... just a promise and a direction. Abraham faced a pivotal choice: stay in comfort or step into the unknown with God. What's remarkable isn't just that Abraham went, but that he went without knowing where he was going. Many of us want certainty before commitment. We want to see the entire journey before taking the first step. But faith rarely works that way. God invites us into a relationship of trust where He reveals the path progressively, not all at once. Think about the areas in your life where you're hesitating to move forward. Perhaps it's a ministry opportunity, a difficult conversation, or a change God is prompting you to make. The first step is often the hardest, but it's also the most crucial. God isn't asking you to see the entire staircase—just to take the next step in front of you. Remember that Abraham's journey of a thousand miles began with a single act of obedience. Your journey of faith starts the same way... with one step, then another, and another. Each step builds your faith muscle and deepens your trust in the God who called you.

Bible Verse
It was by faith that Abraham obeyed when God called him to leave home and go to another land that God would give him as his inheritance. He went without knowing where he was going. - Hebrews 11:8

Reflection Question
What is one step of obedience God is asking you to take right now, even though you can't see where it will lead?

Quote
Obey God even if you don't know where he is leading.

Prayer
Lord, give me the courage to take the first step of faith today. Help me trust Your character even when I can't see the full path ahead. Thank You for walking with me on this journey. Amen.
