Step By Step [Taking Steps To Freedom] Devotions Day 2

Protected by the Blood

Devotional
After the Israelites decided to leave Egypt, they faced a critical moment: the Passover. God's instruction was clear... apply the blood of a lamb to their doorposts as protection against the final plague. This wasn't a suggestion but a requirement for their deliverance. The blood marked them as God's people, setting them apart from Egypt and its coming judgment. It wasn't enough to believe in God's plan or even to prepare for departure. They had to physically apply the blood to receive protection. This foreshadowed Christ, our perfect Passover Lamb. His blood doesn't just symbolize our freedom... it secures it. When we apply His sacrifice to our lives through faith, we're marked as God's own, protected from judgment, and set free from sin's power. Many try to find freedom through self-improvement, positive thinking, or simply trying harder. But true liberation comes only through the blood of Jesus. It's not just about believing intellectually that Jesus died for sins; it's about personally applying His sacrifice to your life. Today, consider whether you've fully embraced this crucial step in your journey to freedom. Have you moved beyond merely believing about Jesus to actually placing your trust in His blood? Freedom begins with faith, but it is secured by the blood.

Bible Verse
For the Lord will pass through the land to strike down the Egyptians. But when he sees the blood on the top and sides of the doorframe, the Lord will pass over your home. He will not permit his death angel to enter your house and strike you down. - Exodus 12:23

Reflection Question
In what areas of your life might you be trying to find freedom through your own efforts rather than through Christ's sacrifice? How might fully trusting in His blood change your approach?

Quote
"You can't bypass the blood and expect protection. Have you applied the blood of Christ to your life?"

Prayer
Heavenly Father, thank You for the blood of Jesus that secures my freedom. Forgive me for the times I've tried to find liberation through my own efforts. I apply the blood of Christ afresh to my life today, trusting not in what I can do but in what He has already done. Help me live in the protection and freedom His sacrifice provides. Amen.
