Step By Step [Keep In Step With God] Devotions Day 2
Step by Step with God
Devotional
Walking with God rarely feels like a sprint; it's more like a steady, purposeful hike up a mountain. Each step builds on the previous one, and the view gets clearer as you climb higher. This can be frustrating for those of us who want to reach the summit immediately, but God's step-by-step approach serves a beautiful purpose. Think about learning to walk as a child. No parent expects their baby to go from crawling to running marathons overnight. There's crawling, then pulling up, then those wobbly first steps, then confident walking, and eventually running. Each stage builds the strength and coordination needed for the next. God works similarly in our spiritual lives. When we're in the middle of this process, it's easy to become impatient. We see where we want to be and wonder why we're not there yet. But God knows exactly what He's doing. He's building our spiritual muscles, developing our character, and preparing us for responsibilities we can't even imagine yet. The beauty of God's step-by-step process is that we're never walking alone. Each step forward is taken with His guidance and strength. He doesn't push us faster than we can handle, nor does He leave us stagnant. He moves at the perfect pace for our growth and development. Today, instead of focusing on how far you have to go, celebrate how far you've come. Look back at where you were a year ago, five years ago. Can you see God's faithful work in your life? Trust that He's continuing that same faithful work today, one step at a time.
Bible Verse
I will drive them out a little at a time until your population has increased enough to take possession of the land. - Exodus 23:30
Reflection Question
Looking back over the past year, what evidence can you see of God's step-by-step work in your life, and how does this encourage you to trust His process for the steps ahead?
Quote
In our walk with God, he rarely works in dramatic leaps. I'm not saying that He can't. I'm not saying that He won't. He's God. He can do whatever he wants to. But more times than not, he leads us and he grows us, step by step.
Prayer
Father, thank You for Your patience with my growth. Help me to trust Your timing and Your process. When I'm tempted to rush ahead or become discouraged with the pace, remind me that You are faithfully working in my life, step by step. Give me grace to celebrate progress, not just perfection. Amen.
