Your Doubts Don't Disqualify You

Devotional
When God called Gideon to deliver Israel, Gideon's response wasn't immediate faith and obedience. Instead, he questioned God's choice: 'How can I save Israel? My clan is the weakest in Manasseh, and I am the least in my family.' Sound familiar? Maybe you've had similar thoughts when sensing God's call on your life. Here's what's beautiful about God's response... He didn't say, 'Well, I guess I got the wrong person. Let me find someone else.' Instead, God patiently listened to Gideon's doubts and fears. God understands that doubt is often part of the human experience, especially when He calls us to something that feels bigger than ourselves. Your questions and uncertainties don't surprise God or disqualify you from His purposes. In fact, they often indicate that God is calling you to something significant... something that will require His strength rather than your own. When you express your doubts to God, you're not showing a lack of faith; you're being honest about your humanity. God can work with honest doubt far better than false confidence. The key is bringing your fears to God rather than letting them paralyze you into inaction.

Bible Verse
“Sir,” Gideon replied, “if the Lord is with us, why has all this happened to us? And where are all the miracles our ancestors told us about? Didn’t they say, ‘The Lord brought us up out of Egypt’? But now the Lord has abandoned us and handed us over to the Midianites.” Then the Lord turned to him and said, “Go with the strength you have, and rescue Israel from the Midianites. I am sending you!” “But Lord,” Gideon replied, “how can I rescue Israel? My clan is the weakest in the whole tribe of Manasseh, and I am the least in my entire family!” - Judges 6:13-15

Father, thank You for understanding my doubts and fears. Help me to be honest with You about my uncertainties while trusting that You can use me despite them. Give me courage to move forward even when I don't feel fully confident. Amen.
