Cornerstone [Living Stones] Devotions Day 3

You Are More Than Accepted. You Are Adopted.

Devotional
Acceptance feels good. But adoption is something else entirely. Acceptance says you are welcome here. Adoption says you belong here. It changes your name, your family, and your future. It is permanent. That is exactly what God has done for every person who puts their faith in Jesus. You are not just forgiven and sent on your way. You have been brought into the family of God. You are a son or daughter, not a guest or a visitor. This means you have access. You can come to God not as a stranger hoping to be heard, but as a child who belongs. That kind of closeness was not always available. But because of what Jesus did on the cross, the way is open. You are home.

Bible Verse
"But to all who believed him and accepted him, he gave the right to become children of God." - John 1:12

Reflection Question
In your day-to-day life, do you approach God more like a stranger asking for a favor or like a child coming home? What might need to shift?

Quote
"Jesus not only died for us to be made right with God, He also gave us an identity as children of God. That's not just acceptance. It absolutely is acceptance, but it's not just acceptance. It's adoption."

Prayer
God, thank You for not just accepting me but adopting me. Help me to live with the confidence of a child who knows they are loved and fully welcomed. Amen.
