Bold Faith [Blind Faith] Devotions Day 2
When Jesus Stops for You
Devotional
There's something profoundly moving about the moment Jesus stopped for Bartimaeus. The Creator of the universe, on His way to fulfill the most important mission in history—His sacrificial death—paused for one blind beggar who wouldn't stop calling His name. Jesus didn't just acknowledge Bartimaeus from a distance. He stopped completely. He called for him personally. And He asked him a question that still echoes through time: "What do you want me to do for you?" This reveals something essential about Jesus' character. No matter how important His mission, He is never too busy for the persistent cries of those who need Him. His compassion isn't general—it's deeply personal. Think about that. The God who set the stars in place wants to know what YOU specifically need from Him today. Not because He doesn't know already, but because He values relationship with you so much that He wants you to express your heart to Him. When we persistently pursue Jesus through prayer, worship, and faith, He doesn't reluctantly give us a moment of His time. He stops everything for us. He gives us His full attention. And He's ready to meet our deepest needs—not always in the ways we expect, but always in the ways that truly matter.
Bible Verse
And Jesus said to him, “Go, for your faith has healed you.” Instantly the man could see, and he followed Jesus down the road. - Mark 10:52
Reflection Question
If Jesus were to ask you today, "What do you want me to do for you?", what would your honest answer be, and how might that reveal what you truly value most?
Quote
Jesus stood still when he heard Bartimaeus call out to him. Just a week before being crucified, Jesus was, as he always was, completely selfless and focused on the needs of those he came to save.
Prayer
Jesus, thank You for stopping for me. Thank You that I'm never just a face in the crowd to You. Help me to be honest about my deepest needs when I come to You, and give me faith to believe that You care about every detail of my life. Amen.
