Kingdom Logic [Lose Your Life To Find It] Devotions Day 1
The Seed's Secret
Devotional
Have you ever watched a gardener plant seeds? They take something that looks perfectly fine and bury it in dark soil. It seems wasteful, even cruel. Yet this apparent destruction is actually the beginning of something beautiful. Jesus uses this simple image to reveal a profound spiritual truth. Just as a seed must be buried and broken apart to produce new life, we must surrender our grip on the life we think we want, to discover the abundant life God has for us. This feels counterintuitive in our self-preservation culture. We're taught to protect ourselves, build our brand, and secure our future. But Jesus invites us into a radically different reality where true growth begins with letting go. The seed doesn't lose its essence when it dies... it fulfills its purpose. Similarly, when we surrender to Christ, we don't lose ourselves; we become who we were truly meant to be. The life that emerges from this spiritual death is far more beautiful and fruitful than anything we could have achieved by clinging to our own plans.
Bible Verse
'I tell you the truth, unless a kernel of wheat is planted in the soil and dies, it remains alone. But its death will produce many new kernels—a plentiful harvest of new lives.' - John 12:24
Reflection Question
What area of your life are you holding onto so tightly that it might be preventing God from bringing new growth?
Quote
For the seed to create life, it first has to be buried in the soil and die. The only way that a plant can grow from the seed, is through death, the death of the seed.
Prayer
Lord, help me trust Your process of growth in my life. Give me courage to surrender the areas I've been protecting so You can bring forth something beautiful.
