Step By Step [Obey God, Even If You Don't Know Where He's Leading] Devotions Day 2
Faith in the Waiting
Devotional
Waiting is perhaps one of the hardest disciplines in the Christian life. Abraham waited 25 years between God's promise of a son and Isaac's birth. During that time, he made mistakes, grew impatient, and even tried to fulfill God's promise through his own efforts. Yet through it all, God was at work... not just preparing a son, but preparing Abraham's heart. Our culture values instant results. We have fast food, same-day delivery, and information at our fingertips. But God's timeline often moves at a different pace. The seasons of waiting in our lives aren't accidents or divine oversight... they're intentional spaces where God shapes our character. Perhaps you're in a waiting season right now. You've taken steps of faith, but the fulfillment seems distant. The promotion hasn't come. The relationship hasn't healed. The ministry hasn't grown. In these moments, remember that waiting isn't wasted time when it's spent with God. What if the waiting isn't about the outcome at all, but about who you're becoming in the process? Abraham emerged from his waiting season as a man of deeper faith. Your waiting has purpose too... God is using it to transform you from the inside out.
Bible Verse
Yet I am confident I will see the Lord’s goodness while I am here in the land of the living. Wait patiently for the Lord. Be brave and courageous. Yes, wait patiently for the Lord. - Psalm 27:13-14
Reflection Question
How might God be using your current season of waiting to develop your character and deepen your trust in Him?
Quote
Faith grows through waiting.
Prayer
Father, help me to see my waiting not as a delay but as a divine appointment with You. Use this season to shape me and prepare me for what's ahead. Give me patience and hope as I trust in Your perfect timing. Amen.
