Step By Step [Stepping Stones And Memorials] Devotions Day 3
Building Memorials of Faith
Devotional
When God performed the miracle of stopping the Jordan River, He didn't want it to be forgotten. He commanded the Israelites to build a memorial... twelve stones stacked together as a permanent reminder of His faithfulness. These stones would spark conversations for generations to come. In the same way, God wants the miracles, breakthroughs, and faithful moments in your life to become memorials that others can see. Every time you choose obedience over convenience, every prayer He answers, every trial you endure with grace... these become spiritual stones that build a testimony of God's goodness. Your memorial isn't built in a single moment but through consistent acts of faithfulness over time. When you forgive someone who doesn't deserve it, you're placing a stone. When you maintain integrity in your workplace despite pressure to compromise, you're adding another stone. When you continue serving God even when life gets difficult, you're building something lasting. These memorials serve a powerful purpose: they provoke questions. People notice when someone responds differently to life's challenges. They wonder about the source of your peace during storms, your hope in difficult seasons, and your strength to keep going when others give up. Just like the Israelites' stone memorial, your life of faith creates opportunities for meaningful conversations. When people ask about your peace, your joy, or your resilience, you get to point them to the God who has been faithful to you. Don't underestimate the power of your testimony. The struggles you've overcome, the prayers God has answered, and the ways He's provided for you aren't just personal victories... they're building blocks for someone else's faith journey.
Bible Verse
We will use these stones to build a memorial. In the future your children will ask you, ‘What do these stones mean?’ - Joshua 4:6
Reflection Question
What 'stones' has God given you through answered prayers, overcome struggles, or acts of faithfulness that could serve as a testimony to others about His goodness?
Quote
Every miracle, every answered prayer, every trial that you endure faithfully, every struggle that you overcome, those are stones in your riverbed. And God doesn't bring you through just for your sake, but he also brings you through those things so that others might see his power through your life.
Prayer
Lord, help me see the memorials You're building through my life. Give me wisdom to recognize how You've been faithful and courage to share these testimonies with others. May my life point people to Your goodness and power. Amen.
