The Most Absolute Best Wrapped Gift Ever - Devotions Day 3

Meeting You in the Mess

Devotional
Life rarely goes according to our carefully laid plans. Sometimes we find ourselves in situations that feel chaotic, shameful, or completely out of control. If that's where you are today, the story of Jesus' birth has something powerful to say to you. Jesus wasn't born in a sterile hospital or a pristine palace. He was born in a stable... a place that was messy, smelly, and far from ideal. Animals lived there, hay was scattered everywhere, and it certainly wasn't the kind of place you'd expect to find royalty. Yet this is exactly where God chose to enter our world. This choice wasn't accidental; it was intentional. God wanted us to know that He doesn't wait for our lives to be cleaned up before He shows up. He meets us in our mess, in our shame, in our brokenness. When you feel like an outcast, remember that Jesus was born among outcasts. When shame surrounds you, remember that Jesus stepped into that shame. When your life feels unclean, remember that Jesus will meet you there. Your current circumstances don't disqualify you from God's love or His plans for your life. In fact, they might be exactly where He wants to do His greatest work. The stable wasn't a setback in God's plan... it was part of the plan.

Bible Verse
The Savior—yes, the Messiah, the Lord—has been born today in Bethlehem, the city of David! And you will recognize him by this sign: You will find a baby wrapped snugly in strips of cloth, lying in a manger.” - Luke 2:11-12

Reflection Question
How does knowing that Jesus chose to enter the world in humble, messy circumstances encourage you in your current situation?

Quote
If your life feels like a mess, the story of Jesus birth is not working against you. It was written for you.

Prayer
Heavenly Father, thank You that You don't wait for my life to be perfect before You show up. Help me to see that You can work in and through my messiest moments. Meet me where I am today. Amen.
