Cornerstone [The Rock Of My Salvation] Devotions Day 1

The Foundation That Matters

Devotional
We live in a world obsessed with building impressive lives; careers, relationships, achievements, and identities. But here's the sobering question: what are you building on? Many of us know the Sunday school answer about getting to heaven, yet our daily choices reveal we're still trying to construct our own foundation. We hedge our bets, adding our own stones to the structure, looking to other things to complete us. But there's only one foundation that can bear the weight of eternity and the storms of life. Jesus isn't just another building block in your spiritual life; He's the cornerstone, the reference point that determines everything else's alignment. When ancient builders laid a cornerstone, every other stone's position depended on it. If the cornerstone was off, the entire structure would eventually collapse. The same is true for our lives. You don't need to clean yourself up first or understand everything perfectly. You simply need to recognize that Jesus is the only foundation that will never crumble and place your trust in Him.

Bible Verse
'Therefore, this is what the Sovereign Lord says: “Look! I am placing a foundation stone in Jerusalem, a firm and tested stone. It is a precious cornerstone that is safe to build on. Whoever believes need never be shaken.' - Isaiah 28:16

Reflection Question
What 'stones' have you been trying to add to your spiritual foundation instead of simply building on Jesus alone?

Quote
There is no alternative foundation. There is no backup plan. There is no plan B here. There is no cornerstone waiting in the wings in case this one doesn't work out. Jesus is it.

Prayer
Lord, help me recognize that You are the only foundation I need. Remove my desire to build on anything else and give me the faith to trust You completely.
