Dry Bones [God's Spirit] Devotions Day 2

Structure Is Not the Same as Life

Devotional
Something powerful happens when Ezekiel speaks God's Word over the dry bones. They come together. Muscles form. Skin covers them. The bodies take shape and look complete from the outside. But there is a detail you cannot miss: they still have no breath in them. They are structurally whole but not truly alive. This is one of the most honest pictures of what religion without the Spirit can look like. You can have the right beliefs, attend the right services, say the right things, and still feel hollow on the inside. The form is there, but the life is missing. God never intended for faith to stop at the bones coming together. That was only the first step. The breath, His Spirit, is what makes the difference between going through the motions and being genuinely transformed. If you have been feeling like something is missing even though you are doing all the "right things," this is an encouraging word for you. God is not done. The same Spirit that hovered over the waters at creation,  breathed life into the first human being, and raised Jesus from the dead is ready to breathe life into you. The structure was never meant to be the destination. It was always meant to be the beginning.

Bible Verse
"The Spirit alone gives eternal life. Human effort accomplishes nothing. And the very words I have spoken to you are Spirit and life." - John 6:63

Reflection Question
Is there an area of your faith that looks complete on the outside but feels lifeless on the inside? What might it look like to invite the Holy Spirit into that space?

Quote
"You can have all the right doctrine. You can have all the right beliefs. You can have all the right structure in place. But without the Spirit, there's no life. There's no transformation. There's no real change."

Prayer
Holy Spirit, I do not just want the right form. I want real life. Come breathe into the places where I have been going through the motions and make them genuinely alive.
