More Than Enough [God's Plan] Devotions Day 1
When God's Plan Doesn't Make Sense
Devotional
Have you ever felt like God was asking you to do something that seemed completely backwards? Maybe He's calling you to take a step that feels risky, or to trust Him in a situation where you can't see the outcome. You're not alone in this struggle. Gideon faced this exact dilemma. Standing before an enemy army as numerous as locusts, he had gathered 32,000 warriors... a respectable force, but still vastly outnumbered. Then God did something that must have seemed absolutely crazy: He told Gideon to send most of his army home. First 22,000 fearful soldiers, then all but 300 men through a strange water-drinking test. Imagine Gideon's thoughts: 'God, we're already outnumbered, and now You want me to fight with even fewer people?' It didn't make logical sense. But here's what Gideon discovered, and what we must learn too, God's ways aren't bound by our human logic. Sometimes the very thing that looks like weakness to us is exactly where God wants to show His strength. When our circumstances don't add up, when the math doesn't work, when everyone around us thinks we're crazy for trusting God, that's often when we're positioned for a miracle. God sees what we cannot see. He knows the end from the beginning, and His plans are always for our good, even when they challenge our understanding. The question isn't whether God's plan makes sense to us, but whether we trust the One who made the plan.
Bible Verse
“My thoughts are nothing like your thoughts,” says the Lord. “And my ways are far beyond anything you could imagine. For just as the heavens are higher than the earth, so my ways are higher than your ways and my thoughts higher than your thoughts.” - Isaiah 55:8-9
Reflection Question
What situation in your life right now requires you to trust God even though His direction doesn't make logical sense to you?
Quote
Do you trust God when it doesn't make sense? Ask yourself, do I really trust God when it doesn't make sense?
Prayer
Lord, help me to trust You even when Your plans don't align with my understanding. Give me the courage to follow Your lead, knowing that Your ways are higher than mine. Amen.
