Deeper Still [God's Power] Devotions Day 5
Treasures in Clay Jars
Devotional
Paul describes us as fragile clay jars containing great treasure... the light of knowing God's glory in the face of Jesus Christ. This imagery is both humbling and hopeful. We're not golden vessels or precious metals; we're ordinary clay, fragile and imperfect. Yet God has chosen these very vessels to carry His most precious treasure. Why clay jars? So that the power is clearly from God and not from us. When miracles happen through broken people, when love flows through imperfect hearts, when hope emerges from unlikely sources, everyone knows it's God at work. You don't need to pretend to be someone else to be used by God. He knows exactly who you are... your quirks, your failures, your limitations... and He still chooses you. The treasure isn't diminished by the vessel; it's highlighted by it. God's power shining through your ordinary life is what makes it extraordinary.
Bible Verse
'But we have this treasure in jars of clay to show that this all-surpassing power is from God and not from us.' - 2 Corinthians 4:7
Reflection Question
What 'treasure' has God placed in your life that He wants to share through you?
Quote
Paul says that we are like fragile clay jars containing this great treasure... Yet it is in these very same frail, vulnerable and imperfect vessels that God has chosen to carry this great treasure.
Prayer
Thank You, God, for choosing me as a vessel for Your treasure. Help me trust that You can work powerfully through my imperfect life.
