Deeper Still [Go With God] Devotions Day 4

Shine Where You Are

Devotional
You might think you need to travel across the world to make a difference for God's kingdom. While some are called to distant places, most of us are called to shine right where we are. God has strategically placed you in your specific neighborhood, workplace, school, and family circle for a divine purpose. Jesus called you the light of the world; not a light that's hidden under a basket, but one that's placed on a hill for everyone to see. The light you carry isn't your own; it's Christ's light shining through you, bringing clarity, hope, and direction to those around you. Look around your daily environment. Your coworkers who seem stressed and overwhelmed need the peace of Christ. Your neighbors dealing with family struggles need the hope of the Gospel. Your friends searching for meaning need to see authentic faith lived out. Being on mission doesn't require crossing an ocean; it requires understanding that wherever God has placed you is your mission field. A good place to start changing your world is right where you are. Your simple acts of kindness, your genuine care for others, and your willingness to share your faith story can illuminate the darkness around you. When you live authentically with Jesus, Jesus shining through your good works naturally produce light that points people back to Him.

Bible Verse
“You are the light of the world—like a city on a hilltop that cannot be hidden. No one lights a lamp and then puts it under a basket. Instead, a lamp is placed on a stand, where it gives light to everyone in the house. In the same way, let your good deeds shine out for all to see, so that everyone will praise your heavenly Father. - Matthew 5:14-16

Reflection Question
