Deeper Still [Trust God] Devotions Day 2

The Power of 'But If You Say So'

Devotional
Simon Peter had every reason to doubt. As a professional fisherman, he knew the waters, he knew the timing, and he knew that after fishing all night with nothing to show for it, trying again seemed pointless. Yet when Jesus asked him to let down his nets once more, Peter's response changed everything: 'Master Simon replied, we have worked hard all last night and didn't catch a thing, but if you say so, I'll let the nets down again.' That simple phrase - 'but if you say so' - represents a profound shift from relying on our own understanding to trusting God's word. Peter chose obedience over his professional experience; faith over logic. The result? A catch so miraculous that their nets began to break. How often do we struggle in our own power, trying to fix situations with our limited knowledge and getting nowhere? Today, God is inviting you to have 'but if you say so' faith... to trust His word even when it doesn't make sense to your natural mind.

Bible Verse
“Master,” Simon replied, “we worked hard all last night and didn’t catch a thing. But if you say so, I’ll let the nets down again.”- Luke 5:5

Reflection Question
In what area of your life do you need to move from 'this doesn't make sense' to 'but if You say so, Lord'?

Quote
That moment wasn't just about catching fish. It was about choosing to trust Jesus' word over his own understanding and experience.

Prayer
God, help me to trust Your word over my own understanding. Give me the courage to say 'but if You say so' even when circumstances seem impossible.
