Deeper Still [God's Power] Devotions Day 1

But If You Say So

Devotional
Have you ever felt like you've tried everything and nothing is working? Simon Peter knew that feeling intimately. After fishing all night with nothing to show for it, Jesus asked him to try again. Peter's response reveals the heart of faith: 'Master Simon replied, we worked hard all last night and didn't catch a fang, but if you say so, I'll let the nets down again.' This wasn't blind optimism... it was trust in Jesus despite circumstances. Peter acknowledged his failure but chose to trust Jesus' word over his own experience. That simple phrase 'but if you say so' opened the door to a miracle so abundant that nets began tearing and boats nearly sank. Sometimes faith isn't about understanding God's plan; it's about trusting His heart. When logic says no but Jesus says yes, our 'but if you say so' response positions us for the extraordinary. God isn't looking for perfect people with flawless track records. He's looking for willing hearts that trust His voice even when it doesn't make sense.

Bible Verse
“Master,” Simon replied, “we worked hard all last night and didn’t catch a thing. But if you say so, I’ll let the nets down again.” - Luke 5:5
