More Than Enough [God's Calling] Devotions Day 1

God Sees Your Potential

Devotional
Have you ever felt like you're hiding from God's calling on your life? Maybe you've thought, 'Who am I to serve God?' or 'I'm not qualified enough.' You're not alone in these feelings. Gideon felt the exact same way. When we first meet him, he's literally hiding in a winepress, secretly threshing wheat to avoid enemy detection. He wasn't displaying courage or leadership... he was afraid and trying to stay invisible. Yet in this very moment of fear and hiding, the angel of the Lord appeared to him with an incredible greeting: 'Mighty hero, the Lord is with you.' Can you imagine Gideon's shock? Here he was, cowering in fear, and God's messenger calls him a mighty hero. This wasn't sarcasm or mistake... it was God's perspective. While Gideon saw his current limitations and fears, God saw his potential. The same is true for you today. God doesn't see you through the lens of your past failures, your present fears, or your perceived inadequacies. He sees who you can become when you trust Him. Your current circumstances don't disqualify you from God's calling... they're often the very place where God chooses to meet you and reveal His plans.

Bible Verse
Then the angel of the Lord came and sat beneath the great tree at Ophrah, which belonged to Joash of the clan of Abiezer. Gideon son of Joash was threshing wheat at the bottom of a winepress to hide the grain from the Midianites. The angel of the Lord appeared to him and said, “Mighty hero, the Lord is with you!” - Judges 6:11-12

Reflection Question
What fears or feelings of inadequacy are currently causing you to 'hide in the winepress' instead of stepping into what God might be calling you to do?

Quote
God sees the potential in you that you might not see in yourself.

Prayer
Lord, help me see myself through Your eyes rather than through my own limitations and fears. Give me the courage to believe that You see potential in me that I cannot yet see in myself. Amen.
