Following Jesus [Build] Devotions Day 1

You Are Already His

Devotional
Before you can pour into anyone else, you have to know where you stand. Discipleship begins not with what you do, but with who you belong to. When you place your trust in Jesus, something remarkable happens. He claims you. He marks you as His own. That is not a small thing. That is everything. So many of us live as though our relationship with God depends on how well we perform. We measure our worth by our consistency in prayer, our church attendance, or how put-together our faith looks. But belonging to Jesus is not something you earn. It is something you receive. This is the foundation everything else is built on. You cannot grow into someone who looks more like Jesus if you are not first convinced that He loves you and calls you His. You cannot invest in others from a place of insecurity. But when you are rooted in the truth that you are His, you have something real to give. Take a moment today to simply rest in that. You are not just someone who follows Jesus from a distance. You are marked, known, and claimed by Him. That identity is the starting point for everything discipleship asks of you.

Bible Verse
'And now you Gentiles have also heard the truth, the Good News that God saves you. And when you believed in Christ, he identified you as his own by giving you the Holy Spirit, whom he promised long ago.' - Ephesians 1:13

Reflection Question
If you truly believed, deep down, that your identity is rooted in belonging to Jesus rather than in your performance, how would that change the way you approach your faith today?

Quote
When we truly believe we are His, He identifies us as His own. And He marked us with the seal of His Holy Spirit living within us.

Prayer
Lord, remind me today that I am Yours, not because of what I have done, but because of what You have done. Let that truth be the foundation I build everything else on. Amen.
