Kingdom Logic [Lose Your Life To Find It] Devotions Day 2
Two Lives, One Choice
Devotional
Every day, you're living one of two lives. The first is the Greek word 'psyche' - your natural, temporary existence focused on comfort, success, and earthly pursuits. The second is 'zoe' - eternal life that reflects God's very nature and character. Here's the challenging truth: these two lives are in direct competition. You cannot maximize both. The more energy you pour into preserving your temporary life, the more you forfeit the eternal one God offers. This doesn't mean God wants you to be miserable or unsuccessful. Rather, He's inviting you to find your identity, security, and purpose in Him rather than in temporary things. When Christ becomes the center around which everything else orbits, even your earthly pursuits take on eternal significance. Think about it this way: you can spend your life building a sandcastle that the tide will wash away, or you can invest in something that will last forever. The choice seems obvious, yet it requires daily decisions to prioritize the eternal over the immediate.
Bible Verse
'If you try to hang on to your life, you will lose it. But if you give up your life for my sake and for the sake of the Good News, you will save it.' - Mark 8:35
Reflection Question
In what ways are you currently prioritizing your temporary life over your eternal life with God?
Quote
Jesus is saying that these two lives are in direct competition. You cannot maximize both. The more you cling to the temporary, the more you forfeit the eternal.
Prayer
Father, help me see the difference between temporary and eternal pursuits. Guide my daily choices to reflect Your priorities rather than the world's values.
