Kingdom Logic [Lose Your Life To Find It] Devotions Day 3

Freedom Through Surrender

Devotional
It sounds like a contradiction: find freedom by surrendering. Yet this is exactly what Jesus promises when we stop living for ourselves and start living for Him. When you live entirely for self-preservation, you become enslaved; to fear of loss, to pride that demands recognition, to the constant anxiety of protecting what you have. You calculate every relationship, hoard every resource, and exhaust yourself trying to control outcomes. But surrender to Christ breaks these chains. When you're no longer the center of your universe, you're free to love without calculating the cost. You can give without worrying about return. You can serve without keeping score. This isn't weakness; it's the most liberating way to live. Consider how much mental and emotional energy you spend protecting your image, securing your future, or defending your rights. Now imagine redirecting that energy toward loving God and others. The freedom is breathtaking. Surrender doesn't mean becoming a doormat. It means trusting that the God who created and loves you can be trusted with your life, your future, and your deepest needs.

Bible Verse
'Then Jesus said to his disciples, "If any of you wants to be my follower, you must give up your own way, take up your cross, and follow me."' - Matthew 16:24

Reflection Question
What fears or anxieties are currently enslaving you that you could surrender to God's care?

Quote
When you surrender to Christ, the chains of self centeredness break. You're free to love without calculating the cost. You're free to give without worrying about return. You're free to serve without keeping score.

Prayer
Jesus, I want to experience the freedom that comes from trusting You completely. Help me release the control I've been desperately trying to maintain.
