What Was I Made For? [Satisfaction] Day 3
Discovering the God of Joy
Devotional
Many of us have grown up with a distorted image of God - seeing Him as a stern judge waiting to punish our mistakes, or a distant figure unconcerned with our daily lives. But this couldn't be further from the truth! The God revealed in Scripture is a God of joy who delights in relationship with His children. He's not just waiting for us to follow rules; He's inviting us into an intimate relationship filled with genuine pleasure and satisfaction. When we begin to see God as He truly is - loving, present, and desiring our joy - it transforms how we approach Him. We can stop trying to earn His approval and start enjoying His presence.
Bible Verse
"The one thing I ask of the Lord— the thing I seek most— is to live in the house of the Lord all the days of my life, delighting in the Lord’s perfections and meditating in his Temple." - Psalm 27:4
Reflection Question
How has your view of God's character affected your ability to find satisfaction in relationship with Him?
Quote
So many people think of God too often as this strict and overbearing being. How many times have you thought of God as being just distant, uncaring, or being really strict and overbearing or just up in heaven with lightning bolt waiting to get you every time you mess up? That's not the God of the Bible.
Prayer
Father, help me see You as You truly are. Remove any false images I've created and help me experience the joy of knowing You as my loving Father. Thank You for desiring relationship with me. Amen.
