Drawing Near

Devotional
God's invitation to draw near, or to come close to Him, might seem counterintuitive when we're struggling with sin or feeling unworthy. Yet it's precisely in these moments that we need to move closer to Him, not away. Like a loving parent who embraces a dirty child rather than pushing them away, God welcomes us in our messiness. His presence isn't earned through perfection, but accessed through humble surrender.

Bible Verse
Come close to God, and God will come close to you. Wash your hands, you sinners; purify your hearts, for your loyalty is divided between God and the world. - James 4:8

Reflection Question
What keeps you from drawing near to God when you're struggling? How might your relationship with Him change if you ran toward Him instead of away?

We need to tear down the walls of denial and get honest with ourselves before God. We need to draw near to God in genuine repentance. When you come close to God, He will come close to you.

Lord, when I'm tempted to hide from You, help me remember Your invitation to draw near. Thank You for always welcoming me with open arms. Amen.
