Strangers In This Land [Trust God's Provision] Devotion Day 1

The Only Trustworthy One

Devotional
In a world full of broken promises and disappointments, we often find ourselves searching for someone or something we can truly depend on. We place our trust in people, jobs, bank accounts, or our own abilities—only to discover that all of these can fail us. Abraham's journey of faith teaches us a profound lesson about trust. For 25 years, he waited for God to fulfill His promise of a son. During that time, Abraham made mistakes and tried to solve problems his own way. Yet through it all, God remained faithful, eventually blessing Abraham and Sarah with Isaac when Abraham was 100 years old! This reminds us that while people and circumstances will inevitably disappoint us, God never will. His character is unchanging. His promises are unbreakable. His love is unfailing. When everything else proves unreliable, God stands as our rock and fortress. Today, consider where you've placed your trust. Are you depending on things that can fail, or are you anchoring your life to the only One who is completely trustworthy?

Bible Verse
Don’t put your confidence in powerful people; there is no help for you there. - Psalm 146:3
Other translations say; Do not put your trust in princes, in human beings, who cannot save.

Reflection Question
What area of your life are you struggling to trust God with right now, and what would it look like to surrender that area completely to Him?

Quote
Only God is completely trustworthy. Now, obviously it's important that we can depend on people in our relationships. That is very important, but not as a replacement for relying on God. Are you looking to God for provision? Are you looking to someone or something else? The only place that we can securely rest is in God himself.

Prayer
Heavenly Father, forgive me for the times I've placed my trust in things that cannot save. Help me to anchor my life in You alone. When people disappoint me or circumstances fail me, remind me that You are always faithful. Teach me to trust You more deeply each day. Amen.
