Step By Step [Obey God, Even If It Doesn't Make Sense] Devotions Day 2
Trusting Without Seeing
Devotional
Imagine building a massive boat on dry land when you've never even seen rain. That was Noah's reality. He couldn't possibly understand the full scope of God's plan, yet he trusted and obeyed anyway. God didn't give Noah a detailed roadmap. There was no steering wheel or rudder on the ark because Noah wasn't in control of the destination—God was. Noah's responsibility wasn't to figure everything out; it was simply to follow God's instructions faithfully. How often do we hesitate to obey God because we can't see the full picture? We want guarantees, explanations, and assurances before we step out in faith. But true faith means trusting God's character even when His plan seems unclear. Noah's example challenges us to trust God's wisdom above our own understanding. He didn't need to know where the ark would float or how long they would be aboard. He simply needed to trust that the God who called him would also guide him. Today, God may be asking you to take a step of faith without revealing the entire journey. Perhaps He's calling you to serve in a new way, forgive someone who hurt you, or make a difficult change. Whatever it is, remember that your need to trust God should be greater than your need to understand His plan.
Bible Verse
Trust in the Lord with all your heart; do not depend on your own understanding. Seek his will in all you do, and he will show you which path to take. - Proverbs 3:5-6
Reflection Question
What is God asking you to do right now that doesn't make complete sense to you, and what would it look like to trust Him fully in this situation?
Quote
"Our need to trust God should be greater than our need to understand."
Prayer
Heavenly Father, forgive me for the times I've demanded complete understanding before obeying You. Help me trust Your perfect wisdom even when I can't see where You're leading. Give me the courage to follow You one step at a time, knowing You hold the future. Amen.
