Step By Step [Small Steps And Leaps Of Faith] Devotions Day 2
Following the Guide
Devotional
When you're hiking in unfamiliar territory, having a reliable guide makes all the difference. They know the terrain, the safe paths, and the destinations worth reaching. Without them, you might wander in circles or miss the most beautiful views entirely. The Israelites had the ultimate Guide... God's presence, in the Ark of the Covenant, went before them. This wasn't just a religious symbol; it was their GPS, their compass, their assurance that they weren't walking into the unknown alone. God Himself was leading the way. Today, we still have God's presence... the Holy Spirit living within us. He doesn't just go before us; He walks with us every step of the way. When we're facing our own Jordan Rivers, we don't have to figure out the path on our own. We don't need to have all the answers or see the complete map of our future. Sometimes we want God to lay out the entire journey before we take the first step. We want guarantees, detailed plans, and clear outcomes. But that's not typically how God works. He reveals the path one step at a time, asking us to trust His guidance rather than our own understanding. The beautiful truth is that God is already going ahead of us, preparing the way. He sees what we cannot see and knows what we need before we even ask. Our job isn't to figure everything out; it's to follow His lead with confidence.
Bible Verse
So the people left their camp to cross the Jordan, and the priests who were carrying the Ark of the Covenant went ahead of them. - Joshua 3:14
Reflection Question
In what areas of your life are you trying to lead instead of following God's guidance, and how can you better tune in to the Holy Spirit's direction?
Quote
Each one of us, we face our own Jordan River. Whether it's a relationship, a health challenge, or a calling to serve... whatever it is, God wants us to know that he is already going ahead of us and preparing the way.
Prayer
Father, thank You for not leaving me to navigate life's challenges alone. Help me to trust Your guidance even when I can't see the full path ahead. Teach me to follow Your lead with confidence and joy. Amen.
