Step By Step [Small Steps And Leaps Of Faith] Devotions Day 4

Held by His Hand

Devotional
One of the most beautiful images of God's care for us is that of a parent holding a child's hand while they learn to walk. The child may stumble, may even fall, but they're never truly in danger because they're held securely by someone stronger. When the priests stepped into the Jordan River, something miraculous happened... the waters stopped flowing and piled up in a heap upstream. But even more amazing is this truth: even if they had mistepped, even if they hadn't gotten it perfectly right, God was still faithful. He was holding them by the hand. This is the heart of our relationship with God. We don't have to be perfect in our faith steps. We don't have to have unwavering confidence or never experience doubt. What matters is that we're willing to trust God and take the step He's calling us to take, knowing that He's got us. Too often, we let fear of failure keep us from stepping out in faith. We worry about what will happen if we don't hear God correctly or if we mess up somehow. But God's faithfulness doesn't depend on our perfection... it depends on His character. He is holding us by the hand, and He will never let us go. When we understand this truth, it changes everything. We can step forward with confidence, not because we're strong enough to handle whatever comes, but because we're held by the One who is.

Bible Verse
The Lord directs the steps of the godly. He delights in every detail of their lives. Though they stumble, they will never fall, for the Lord holds them by the hand. - Psalm 37:23-24

Reflection Question
How does knowing that God holds you by the hand change your perspective on the risks you're afraid to take in following Him?

Quote
Even if we misstep, I want you to catch this. Even if we don't get it right every time, God is still faithful and He is holding you by the hand.

Prayer
Lord, thank You for holding me securely in Your hand. Help me to remember that Your faithfulness doesn't depend on my perfection, but on Your unchanging love. Give me courage to step forward, knowing You've got me. Amen.
