The Most Absolute Best Wrapped Gift Ever - Devotions Day 2
Room in the Inn
Devotional
Imagine traveling to your hometown for a census, only to find every hotel, motel, and guest room completely booked. That's exactly what happened to Mary and Joseph, but their situation was far more significant than a simple accommodation problem. The Son of God, the Creator of the universe, came to earth and found no room in the inn. This wasn't an oversight or poor planning, it was a picture of humanity's condition. We often live our lives so full of our own plans, worries, and pursuits that we don't make room for Jesus. The innkeeper wasn't necessarily cruel; he was just busy, focused on his business, and didn't recognize the significance of his visitors. How often do we do the same? We fill our schedules, our minds, and our hearts with so many things that we crowd out the very One who wants to dwell with us. But here's the beautiful truth: even when the world had no room for Him, Jesus still came. He didn't wait for perfect conditions or a royal welcome. He came into our messy, crowded, inhospitable world because He loves us that much. Today, Jesus is still looking for room... not in an inn, but in our hearts and lives.
Bible Verse
He came into the very world he created, but the world didn’t recognize him. He came to his own people, and even they rejected him. But to all who believed him and accepted him, he gave the right to become children of God. They are reborn—not with a physical birth resulting from human passion or plan, but a birth that comes from God. So the Word became human and made his home among us. He was full of unfailing love and faithfulness. And we have seen his glory, the glory of the Father’s one and only Son. - John 1:10-14
Reflection Question
What areas of your life might be so crowded that you're not making room for Jesus to work and speak?
Quote
Jesus came from heaven into a world that did not have room for him.
Prayer
Lord Jesus, forgive me for the times I've been too busy or distracted to make room for You. Help me to create space in my heart and schedule for Your presence and voice. Come and dwell with me today. Amen.
