Name Above All Names [Good Friday] Devotions Day 4

Dead to Sin, Alive in Christ

Devotional
When Jesus died on the cross, something profound happened to every believer... our old sinful selves were crucified with Him. This isn't just a nice metaphor; it's a spiritual reality that changes everything about how we live. The power that sin once had over us has been broken. We're no longer slaves to destructive patterns, addictions, or shame from our past. Instead, we can consider ourselves dead to sin and alive to God. This doesn't mean we'll never struggle with temptation, but it means we have real power to say no to what's wrong and yes to what's right. Living this truth requires daily surrender... choosing to walk in the freedom Jesus purchased for us rather than returning to old chains. Every time we choose God's way over our own, we're discovering who we were always meant to be.

Bible Verse
We know that our old sinful selves were crucified with Christ so that sin might lose its power in our lives. We are no longer slaves to sin. - Romans 6:6
